'Serious' nightclub attack leaves victim with broken eye socket as police launch probe

A man has been left with a broken eye socket following a nightclub attack in Middlesbrough.

The incident, which is being described as a "serious assault" by Cleveland Police, took place in the popular Mint nightclub on Albert Road and left a 29-year-old man with a broken eye socket, bruising, and blurred vision.

The man was assaulted by two men, described as Asian in appearance, with one of them being clean-shaven. Cleveland Police has now launched a probe into the incident, asking any witnesses to get in touch.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police in Middlesbrough are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Mint nightclub on Albert Road in the town in the early hours of Sunday 20th August. At around 3am, a 29-year-old man was assaulted by two men, described as Asian in appearance with one of them clean-shaven.

"The assault left the victim with a broken eye socket, bruising and blurred vision. Witnesses, or anyone with information is asked to contact DC Adam Greenwell of Middlesbrough CID on 101 quoting reference SE23168472."
